FROM THE RECTOR'S DESK:
The 76th General Convention of our Episcopal Church will meet in Anaheim at the Convention Center from Wednesday, July 8, through Friday, July 17.
You are invited!
Bishops, deputies, registered alternates and delegates to the Episcopal Church Women’s Triennial will gather for prayer, Bible study and Holy Eucharist each day. At this year’s General Convention these gatherings will reflect the theme of “Ubuntu (a Zulu word meaning “I am because you are”): It’s you …and me… and all of us together.” “Ubuntu (oo-boon-too) is a philosophy whereby a person is open and available to others, affirming of others, does not feel threatened that others are able and good, for he or she has a proper self-assurance that comes from knowing that he or she belongs in a greater whole” – Archbishop Desmond Tutu. General Convention is wonderful witness that each of us belongs to “a greater whole”! In the spirit of Ubuntu, you are invited to share your talents, skills and time by volunteering to be a part of it all. You may register at www.gc2009.org/volunteers or contact our own Lynn Headley at 714.920.7981 or lynnheadleygc@earthlink.net .

PARISH FINANCIAL UPDATE
Our parish community has responded generously since our All-Parish Meeting with gifts beyond our annual pledges. Nearly 100% of our members have participated financially to support our worship through music, our varied programs for Christian education, evangelism and fellowship, and our important mission projects. Additionally, cuts in our staff and our programs are now in place. Your pledged gift is essential as we move into summer and the second half of our year. We continue to depend on our pledge base to sustain our 2009 programs. Each Commission is examining possibilities for additional savings. Please contact Melinda Rader with questions, or suggestions.
